Reverting to Old School

Sometimes teaching old dogs new tricks is impossible (especially if the old dog doesn't want to learn / admit they have things to learn).

So how does one show a spreadsheet challenged individual how far behind they are?  Not to mention how much of their workload they are dumping on others....

Colored post it notes on a door.  If a picture is worth a thousand  words .... hundreds of little post its are worth ones sanity :)

Big Picture Breath

Life gets away from all of us.

Dreaming...

Oh wait - I'm actually here.   Ha - and to think I was dreaming (who wouldn't be dreaming of the scene above)!

In order to get back into the swing of things here ... I'm going to pick up where I tend to go in the summer.  Summertime goals!

Yeah, I know we are already partially through the summer - but what can i say - with 2 weddings and LOADS of other things life has been hectic.

Resolutions Summer '12 Style:

  • Beach (4x)
  • Saturday Morning Farmers Market :)
  • Zern's
  • Dancing
  • READ
  • Redo 3 Season Room
  • Start "Trash to Trish" (lord knows I have enough in the basement!)
  • Minnesota State Fair!!! (we got our plane tickets!)
These goals will quickly transition to some loads of fall fun (like a trip to DC and redoing the lawn!)

:)

This was his favorite position - the "maybe they won't notice me" pose. With his head tucked under. It makes me smile to think of how he'd dive into those boxes :) :) :) :) :)

RIP Buddy

Losing a pet is never easy. Losing Franklin was really rough ... he was the perfect aloof cat. He'd come to you when he wanted to curl up. If he saw that you were in one spot he'd come closer ... otherwise he was happy just out of arms reach. And always curling up in small boxes!!!! He loved boxes :) :) :)

Oh buddy - how I will miss you. I'm happy we got to spend your last moment together!

Poor Strap

The poor strap didn't make it home in one piece. All to fitting for the situation...

Call Me Insane...

Who drives 100 miles to go check out a salvage store???

Two thumbs pointed at chest ...THIS GIRL

It was a nice experience ... a little rough around the edges followed by some yummy pizza in town.

That was it ... then turn around and head home.

It's good to get out of town at times...

Next time I should convince Keith to drive ... then I can haul some stuff home ;)

San Diego Zoo

Some elephant fun at the zoo. We made a quick stop on the way to the airport ... could definatley use another day at the zoo.

It's cool to have the fun gadget for the elephants, yet sad that they can't reach into a tree ... no natural environment.

San Diego Fun

A pretty view to take in while tagging along on Keith's business trip. Beach, piers, sunsent, palm trees ....

Flower Fields

Not exactly the image that once conjures when "California Dreaming", but the flower fields in Carlsbad, CA were quite a spectacle. So was the fresh strawberry smoothie that came after the walk around the fields ;)

When UPS Lies

So UPS has another slogan aside from the more typical "what can Brown do for YOU?" It's: our drivers are corner cutting, fib telling delivery men and by all means trust them over the customer.

Sorry for the poor image, but this is the water logged falling apart box of some electronic equipment that they delivered to my front sidewalk. It was too heavy, so they decided not to put it on the porch (yet mark that they did) just before one of the worst rain storms.

Needless to say a nice neighbor called to let me know, I promptly called UPS to complain. They told me it was on the porch (which it was not)... the driver snuck back when customer service called to confirm it ... dragged it onto the porch and "covered it in plastic" (which he did not). What he was supposed to do was come back in an hour when someone was going to be there to receive it...basically he didn't want to be caught with his pants down so my soggy wet crumbling box was there to greet me when I returned from vacation.

So: Mr. Cushy Benefits UPS Delivery Driver ... have some pride in your work and stop being a lying POS. There are plenty of people out there who would love to have your job/benefits. Step up or step out of the game.

Mind you my UPS driver pulled up some porch boards the last time he delivered something heavy to my porch. He's also left stuff on the steps and thrown packages onto the porch (while I'm standing there ready to receive them .... how about hand them to me rather than throw them on the ground???). My FED Ex Delivery man walks the packages up to the porch and places them under my mailbox.

Rant - finished

Happy Birthday

Not bad for not having to leave the comfort of my own home! Taken from the upstairs bedroom while sitting on the floor. I could even hear the music they were playing to go along with it.

Overall a very quiet 4th, but it's good to catch up at times .... kitchen - clean (check)!!!!
